Geunjeongjeon, the throne hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, in Minecraft blocks. As in the real hall, the building stands on a stone terrace and has a double roof. 25 × 27 blocks, 21 layers, 2,806 blocks.
The colours come from dancheong, the painted woodwork of Korean palaces: red concrete for the columns, cyan concrete for the beam band above them, spruce trapdoors for the window lattice and white quartz for the walls. The roof uses the same dark prismarine blue tiles as the hanok pattern.
Layer by layer — terrace, lower storey, upper storey, roof
LAYER 1–4 — the terrace. Stack stone bricks. Each layer steps back by one row on the top side of the pattern, which forms the front stairs, and LAYER 3 adds a quartz railing of 90 blocks along the edge. LAYER 4 is the narrower second tier (21 × 22) and, at 448 blocks, the largest layer of the build.
LAYER 5 — the hall floor. 225 spruce planks make a 15 × 15 floor, ringed by a second quartz railing.
LAYER 6–9 — lower storey. Stone-brick base and furniture on LAYER 6; quartz walls with red columns and trapdoor lattice on LAYER 7–8; the cyan band with 8 glowstone on LAYER 9. Following the colour bands alone already gives the painted look.
LAYER 10 — lower roof. A 17 × 17 eave of dark prismarine stairs and slabs, one block wider than the walls, with planks filling the middle as the upper floor.
LAYER 11–14 — upper storey. The same sequence — stone-brick base, quartz and red columns with lattice, cyan band and lights — one block narrower at 13 × 13.
LAYER 15–21 — upper roof. Starting at 15 × 15, each layer steps in one row front and back while the width holds at 11, so the roof slopes front and back. LAYER 21 is an 11-block prismarine ridge.
Gathering materials
The big one is 1,094 stone bricks: 4 stone make 4 bricks (or 1 → 1 on a stonecutter), and stone comes from smelting cobblestone. That is roughly 1,100 cobblestone through furnaces, so run several side by side.
The roof needs 346 dark prismarine, 320 stairs and 120 slabs — 726 blocks with a stonecutter, 886 at a crafting table. 726 blocks means 5,808 prismarine shards and 726 ink sacs.
269 quartz blocks take 1,076 Nether quartz. Red and cyan concrete come from concrete powder (4 sand + 4 gravel + 1 dye → 8) touching water; cyan dye is green dye (smelted cactus) plus lapis lazuli.
Tips
Finish the terrace first. The hall does not sit dead centre: it occupies columns 5–19 and rows 7–21. Count that out once when laying the LAYER 5 floor and the upper storeys will line up.
Place trapdoors against a wall so they stand upright like lattice. A trapdoor lying flat looks like a step, not a window.
The upper walls can only go up once the lower roof on LAYER 10 is done — and then you are standing on that roof, so you do not need scaffolding.
